Montessori Method

Montessori - Dr. Maria Montessori Developed the Montessori Method of education over 100 years ago. The method and philosophy has grown into a worldwide accepted method of education. Montessori educators are called Guides, Teachers, or (with infants and toddlers birth-3) assistants to infancy.

1. Respect for the child and his or her inner guide and self-motivation.

2. Prepare the environment to be child friendly, orderly and inviting, with developmentally age appropriate materials, child-sized equipment easily accessible by the child and with little adult intervention.

3. Respect for the environment, self, and others including grace and manners.

4. Provide opportunities for real life activities in harmony with the environment.

5. Provide a quiet, orderly environment to promote focus and concentration.

6. Encourage exploration, curiosity, creativity and self-paced experiential learning.

7. Follow the child including interests, abilities, needs and stage of development.
